This class will lay the groundwork for successful presentation of your work at the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Performing Arts 2026. The SCFPA is open to presenters of any age for professional adjudication. To qualify for consideration of adjudicator recommendation to the BC Provincial Arts Festival the presenter must be 11 – 22 years of age and prepare work in each of the three categories (Poetry, Drama and Prose) for the Speech and Dramatic Arts discipline.
The SC Festival of Performing Arts offers Awards in Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories. The presenter must perform at least two pieces to qualify for these.
This is a two-term course
Term 1 – September 18 – December 18, 2025
Term 2 – January 8 – April 23, 2026
Term 1 In the September-December term, we will choose a poem, a drama monologue and an excerpt of prose to work with for our presentation at the Festival in April 2026. We begin by exploring the differences and similarities in these three core types of speech arts.
Term 2 In January – April we perfect our skills to bring each type of speech work to premium presentation.
